Welcome to the Weekly Progress Collier Computers update. This week at Collier Computers was all about benchmarking efforts, focusing on testing and data collection. Progress was made despite some delays caused by hardware requirements for video recording, which are now resolved.
Completed Tasks:
- Published an article on X: I detailed my recording setup for retro PCs and enhancements, offering insights into my process. If you’re curious about screen recording vintage machines, check out my setup guide.
- Gathered downloadable benchmark testing tools:Compiled and shared a list of essential benchmarking software to evaluate system performance effectively. These tools ensure thorough testing across CPU, GPU, and memory.
- Ran benchmarks on the Gateway 500SE PC: I conducted extensive tests to measure the performance of this classic machine. Benchmarks provide valuable data to analyze system health, identify bottlenecks, and optimize performance.
In Progress:
- Testing PerformanceTEST: This tool remains under review to gauge its ability to deliver detailed, reliable results for retro PC systems.
Blocked Tasks:
- Recording benchmark videos: Previously blocked due to missing hardware, this task is now unblocked. With the tools in place, video recordings can begin next week.
Looking Ahead:
With the hardware and tools ready, I’m excited to dive deeper into benchmark testing for retro PCs. Next week’s focus includes:
- Recording and documenting benchmark results: I’ll capture high-quality videos showcasing how various tools perform on retro systems.
- Gameplay recordings: I plan to record gameplay footage of some of my favorite games to highlight performance and nostalgia. These videos will provide both technical insights and entertainment for retro PC enthusiasts.
